✧ Sunset & Dragonflies ✧

Good Morning everyone,

I hope you all have had a lovely weekend. Happy Monday!! A new week and new crafting ideas and projects are ready for us :)

The card I am sharing today is a beautiful sunset themed card. I have seen a couple of different styles of this card on Pinterest and I really wanted to try one and see what I could come up with.

I decided to go with a dragonfly on my card today and once again I am using the stamp set and thinlits set; Dragonfly Dreams from Stampin' Up. I absolutely love this set. I have used it so much!! and it also has appeared on my favourites post before.

I really like the sentiments in this stamp set too :)

TUTORIAL

Scored @ 6 inches (15 1/2 cms)

Other card stock used -

Watercolour paper - 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches (14 x 14 cms)

Basic Black card stock - 5 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches (14 1/2 x 14 1/2 cms)

Ink pads used -

Rose Red

Peekaboo Peach

So Saffron

Memento Tuxedo Black

To make the sunset effect, use an aqua painter and the three colour ink pads with the Watercolour paper.

Use the Rose Red ink pad at the bottom of the paper and once you have coloured about a third of the way up of the paper stock. Start to brush on the Peekaboo Peach ink.

Again, once you have brushed up another third of the paper, start to brush on the So Saffron ink.

If there are any harsh lines where you have changed the colours. Squeeze the aqua painter slightly and use the water to lighten or blend the inks more.

Leave the piece of Watercolour Paper to dry. (You can speed the drying time up with a heat tool if you would like)

With a scrap piece of Basic Black card stock. Die cut the smaller dragonfly from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits set.

Once your piece of Watercolour Paper has dried.

Use the Memento Black ink pad to stamp the solid dragonfly from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set. (You will need two stamps from the set, the wings and the body)

Stamp the dragonfly in the centre of the Watercolour Paper.

Around the edges of the paper, I have used stamps from the set Falling Flowers. (Stampin' Up)

In the bottom left hand corner and the top right hand corner. Stamp the large flourish from the stamp set with the Memento Black ink pad.

Also use the Memento Black ink pad to stamp the cluster of leaves stamp either side of the large clusters.

When stamping the watercolour paper. You may find that once you have stamped the images. There are little areas that haven't been completely covered with ink.

If you want the colour to be more opaque and fully cover the images. You can use the aqua painter to add more of the black ink to your card front.

Allow more drying time if the aqua painter is used again :)

Time to build the card....

Using dimensional's, attach your card front on to the piece of Basic Black card stock.

Follow with tear and tape to place the card front on to the card base.

Using a fine tip glue pen. Glue the cut out dragonfly on top of the stamped one.

Bend the wings back slightly to give a more 3D effect to your card.

The sentiment is also from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set. It has been stamped with the Memento Black ink pad onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.

This has then been backed on to a piece of Basic Black card stock with dimensional's.

Attach your sentiment onto you card front with tear and tape.

Voila!!

You have now made a beautiful sunset card which would brighten up any room and anyone's day :)

I hope you have enjoyed today's tutorial and card.

As always, everything I have used will be listed down below along with the links to where you can purchase the goodies for yourself.

I hope you all have a lovely rest of your day. I will see you all tomorrow.

Take care & Always sparkle
