🖋 Note Station with Wood Effect 🖋

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all well and have some fun crafting time planned in to your day! :)

First things first..

The brand new Stampin' Up catalogue has been released and is now available to order from, from today!!! Woohoo!! This morning I will be sitting down with my cup of tea and tweaking the last few things for my list and then I will be online :) Have fun planning and ordering some new goodies for yourself :)

For today's project showcase. I have made something a little different to what I normally do.

I love to use note pads. Always have one close to hand; to jot down an idea or add something to my forever growing shopping list.

The only problem I find sometimes; especially when I am crafting, is I put my note pad down; out of the way and then I have to keep picking it up to see what I was wanting to do next. I don't have much room where I have my craft area so I wondered if there was something I could make that I would be able to see even if I had to put if off to the side. Today's showcase is what I came up with.

Because it is made from card stock, I know it is not going to hold absolutely loads. But, it is more that enough to attach a couple of pieces of paper to. So I can jot down notes, ideas or a little sketch or two. Plus, an added bonus is that it sits very nicely on a little ledge I have above my craft table :)

Let me show you how I made it :) ........

The first stamp set that has been used today is one from the brand new catalogue called Crafting Forever. This stamp set has the pens, scissors etc that you can see I have decorated my project with today.

The second stamp set is Timeless Textures from Stampin' Up.

Place the card base onto a scoring board with the longest side at the top.

Score @ 2 1/2 , 3 1/2, 7 1/2 & 8 1/2 inches (6 1/2, 9, 19 1/2 & 22 cms)

With the smaller piece of Smoky Slate card stock. Again with the longest side at the top.

Score @ 1 & 5 inches (3 & 13 cms)

Now to create the wood effect on the the four pieces of Whisper White card stock. To do this, you will need both the Sahara Sand and Smoky Slate ink pads and the stamp that is on the left hand side, second one up from the bottom in the Timeless Textures stamp set (see photo)

Starting off with the Smoky Slate ink pad. Using the stamping off and on technique.

Cover all pieces of Whisper White card stock. Stagger the stamping so that it will be a more realistic wood effect.

Again with the stamping off and on technique. Repeat what you have just done but with the Sahara Sand ink pad.

Ink around the edges of each piece of Whisper White card stock with the Sahara Sand ink pad and either a dauber or sponge.

From the same stamp set, use the stamp that is the dots and stamp lightly in a couple of areas to achieve the wood notch effect. There was no order to this. I just stamped the dots where I thought they looked best :)

Using the cup stain stamp and again the Sahara Sand ink pad. Stamp on one of the side panel pieces. In to the top right hand corner.

To decorate the panels, I used the stamps from the Crafting Forever stamp set.

The three pen stamps that you see on today's project are all on one rubber stamp.

What I did to separate them, was to bring the ink pad to the stamp. So in stead of pressing the whole stamp into the Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad.

I pressed the ink pad onto the stamp where I wanted it to go. You can also use a scrap piece of paper to block off the rest of the stamp so it stays clear of ink :)

I stamped the stationery pictures where I wanted them to go and coloured them in using my Stampin' Up markers.

The sentiment is from the Crafting Forever stamp set.

This was stamped using the Memento Black ink pad on to a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock.

Punch the sentiment out using a 1 3/4 inch circle punch and ink the edges using the Smoky Slate ink pad.

Using a 2 inch circle punch. Punch out from a scrap piece of Smoky Slate. Ink the edges using the Memento ink pad.

With dimensionals, attach the two circles together.

Now time to build your card,

Attach your side panel pieces and your back panel piece to the card base using tear and tape.

Attach the bottom panel piece with dimensional's to the strip of Smoky Slate card stock.

Also on the strip of Smoky Slate card stock. Place tear and tape onto the tabs and adhere the strip onto the card base, between your two side panels.

Attach the sentiment using dimensional's.

You too now have somewhere to add your notes and ideas to which can be placed even on a little ledge :)

Just add your own paper clips or washy tape.

I hope you have enjoyed today's tutorial. I would love to see if you make one :) Tag me on Facebook or send me an email :)

As always I will list all items used down below.

I hope you all have a lovely day and I will see you tomorrow.

Take care & Always sparkle
