✤ Global Design Project - #GDP090 ✤

Lemon Lime Birthday Balloons

Good Morning Everyone!

Hope you are all well :)

Today I will be showcasing the card I made for this weeks Global Design Project Sketch Challenge.

This weeks sketch we were given to case was this one below....

I really wanted to push myself for the challenge this week as I hadn't been able to put in an entry for the past few weeks.

I decided to use a colour palette that would include the new in colour from Stampin' Up; Lemon Lime Twist.

I do really like this colour but I just hadn't had the time to experiment or play with it. I am normally a pastel kind of girl BUT I wasn't going to give up that easy.

What's the worst that could happen? It is a card, it can be redone if I don't like it. Right??......Right! :)

After a few attempts and not being 100 % sure of what I had made. I finally came up with the card that I am showing you today and I actually really like it :)

Here is how I made today's card..

Card base - Basic Black card stock - 12 x 6 inches (31 x 15 1/2 cms)

Score the card base @ 6 inches (15 1/2 cms)

Mid Layer - Dapper Denim card stock - 5 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches (14 1/2 x 14 1/2 cms)

Card front -

1 piece -Very Vanilla card stock - 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches (11 1/2 x 14 cms)

1 piece of Lemon Lime Twist card stock - 3 x 5 inches (7 1/2 x 13 cms)

1 piece from Eastern Palace DSP pack - 2 3/4 x 4 3/4 inches (7 x 12 cms)

The ink pads used for today's card -

Lemon Lime Twist

Island Indigo

Memento Tuxedo Black

The stamp set I used today was the Happy Birthday Gorgeous set, from the new Stampin' Up catalogue.

Happy Birthday Gorgeous Photopolymer Stamp Set

Using the Lemon Lime Twist ink pad, stamp the Party Time stamp randomly all over the piece of Very Vanilla card stock.

Then with the speckled balloon stamp and Lemon Lime Twist ink pad.

Stamp the balloon over the top of the wording you have just stamped. Use the stamp off and on method.

Using the Island Indigo ink pad, stamp the streamer stamp from the set; again randomly over the piece of Very Vanilla card stock.

With a scrap piece of Very Vanilla. Cut out a large circle.

For my card, I used the largest circle from the framelits set - Stitched Shapes Framelits.

For this circle piece, you will also need 3 balloons. (Or any other shape you would like)

I used the Balloon Bouquet Punch for mine and punched the balloons out of a few scrap pieces I had from the Eastern Palace DSP paper pack.

Now time to build the card...

Using tear and tape, attach the piece of Lemon Lime Twist DSP to the same coloured card stock.

Also using tear and tape. Place the three balloons in a staggered position in the Very Vanilla card stock circle.

Before attaching the piece of Denim Dapper card stock to the card base. Wrap a piece of Silver Ribbon around the right hand side, twice. Making sure that the two ribbons cross over one another.

Secure the ribbon on the back of the card stock with tape.

You can now attach the card stock to the card base using tear and tape.

Place the piece of Very Vanilla card stock to the left hand side of the card base. Use dimensional's.

With the Lemon Lime Twist card stock, position it at a slight diagonal angle. Secure with tear and tape.

You can now secure the circle piece onto your card with dimensional's.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set that has been used today.

It has been stamped on to a piece of Very Vanilla card stock. Once with the Lemon Lime Twist ink pad and then again with the Memento ink pad.

When stamping with the black ink. Move your stamp slightly over to the right so as to make a shadow effect.

This was then backed onto a scrap piece of Dapper Denim card stock with dimensionals and then, placed into the centre of the card. Use tear and tape to attach.
