⚜ Neutral Card with Wood Effect ⚜

Happy Sunday Everybody!!! :)

I hope you are all having a fab weekend and you are having a fun filled Sunday :)

Today I am showcasing this beautiful dragonfly card...

I have seen a few cards on Pinterest that have had this wood effect featured on them. But because I don't have a "wood" stamp. Or at least I thought I didn't. I never thought to try and achieve the look using one of the stamp sets I owned.

I took a quick look at my collection and just could not see anything that I would be able to use...then I saw the Timeless Textured stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Timeless Textures Clear-Mount Stamp Set

It was the stamp on the left hand side, second up from the bottom.

That really made me think I could make the wood effect work for me and I love the stamp that is in the bottom right too. So decided to incorporate that one too...somewhere hahaha

It took me a couple of tries to get the look I had in my mind BUT I got there in the end :)

Here is how I made my card xx

Card base - Sahara Sand card stock - 11 x 5 1/2 inches (28 x 14 cms)

Score @ 5 1/2 inches (14 cms)

Layers -

Sahara Sand card stock - 5 x 5 inches (12 1/2 x 12 1/2 cms)

Whisper White card stock - 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 (12 x 12 cms)

Whisper White card stock - 3 x 4 1/4 inches ( 71/2 x 10 1/2 cms)

Wood pieces - Whisper White card stock - You will need to cut 5 pieces @  4 1/2 x 3/4 inches (11 1/2 x 2 cms)

Lets do the wood pieces first.

Each strip of Whisper White, round off the four corners.

Lay them onto a scrap piece of paper.

Using a Sahara Sand ink pad and the wood effect stamp from the Timeless Textures stamp set. Stamp each piece of card stock until covered.

Don't re ink the stamp each time. That way you will end up with different shades of the Sahara Sand ink across the piece of card stock.

Once all strips of card stock have been stamped. Clean the stamp and using a Chocolate Chip ink pad. Highlight one or two areas of each piece.

Using a dauber and the Chocolate Chip ink pad. Ink around the edges of the strips .

You should now have your wood effect strips of card stock :)

Lay the strips as they can be seen in the photo.

Make sure to secure the strips of card stock whilst you stamp the following.

Using the second stamp from the Timeless Textures stamp set (The floral stamp) and a Versamark ink pad.

Stamp once in the bottom left hand corner and once in the top right hand corner at an angle.

Sprinkle over Copper Embossing Powder and use a heat tool to set.

Finally using a Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and the dragonfly stamp from the set Dragonfly Dreams

Dragonfly Dreams Photopolymer Stamp Set

Stamp a Dragonfly onto the middle of your wood pieces.

Set the wood pieces to one side.

With the piece of Whisper White card stock that measures 3 x 4 1/2 inches (7 1/2 x 10 1/2 cms)

Use both the Sahara Sand and Chocolate Chip ink pads. Along with daubers to ink the edges and corners of the card stock.

Emboss the edges of the layering piece of Sahara Sand card stock, using the same Copper Embossing Powder and heat tool.

Now time to build the card...

Using snail adhesive; attach the layering piece of Whisper White card stock to the embossed piece of Sahara Sand card stock.

Attach above now to the card base using dimensionals.

Adhere the smaller inked piece of Whisper White card stock to the card base using snail adhesive..

Position the wood effect pieces and attach to the card base using dimensionals.

Stamp a simple sentiment onto a piece of Whisper White card stock and attach to the bottom wooden piece, centrally.

I absolutely loved making this card. Something totally new to me but I LOVED it!!!
