🙞 Butterflies & Sparkles Textured Card 🙜
Today's card was a little bit of an experiment if I am honest :) When I first sat at my craft area. I really didn't know what I wanted to do for today's post, I just wanted to have some fun, with no plan and just see how it all went.
Luckily I was jotting everything down as I went, just in case it wasn't a complete disaster haha.
Whenever I have no clue what I am making and I am looking glazed eyed at all of my goodies before me. The one thing I know that will start to let my crafty part of my brain kick in. Is to pick up some of my favourite things.
Two products that caught my eye today; were butterfly thinlits dies and the new sparkly glitter enamel dots that are in the new Stampin' Up catalogue. I knew I had to use them :)
I will be honest now, not all of the butterflies are Stampin' Up. The largest and the smallest butterflies are but the other two are ones that I believe I had free from a magazine.
This set is called the Butterflies Thinlits Dies. (Stampin' Up)
Here is how I made my card today..
The stamp set I used was Touches of Texture from Stampin' Up.
Card base - Smoky Slate card stock - 11 3/4 x 6 inches (30 x 15 1/2 cms)
Score @ 5 7/8 inches (15.4 cms)
Middle Layer - Dapper Denim card stock - 5 3/4 x 5 3/4 inches (15 x 15 cms)
Card front - Whisper White card stock - 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches (14 x 14 cms)
The ink pads that were used today were -
On the piece of Whisper White card stock. Using the stamp that is to the left of the daisy. (see photo)
Along with the Smoky Slate ink pad. Use the stamp off and on technique to stamp all over the piece of card stock.
Then using the Smoky Slate ink pad as normal. Use the same stamp and stamp once in each corner and then again stamp either side of the corners. (This will bring more depth to the corner areas)
Continue with the same stamp but this time with the Marina Mist ink pad. Again using the stamp off and on technique. Add the colour to the centre part of the card stock.
With the Basic Gray ink pad and still the same stamp as before. Stamp all around the edges of the card stock.
Now you need the flower/leaf cluster stamp and the longest stamp from the set.
With a Versamark ink pad. Stamp the long thin stamp towards the top right corner and bottom left corner of the card front.
Sprinkle over White Embossing powder and set with a heat tool.
Also with the Versamark ink pad. Stamp the cluster stamp, once in each corner with the top of the stamp pointing in a different direction that the other corners.
Sprinkle with White Embossing powder and set again with a heat tool.
Doing this gives the card texture and an extra subtle pattern :)
With a sponge and the Basic Gray ink pad. Ink the edges of the card front piece.
Using an extra piece of Dapper Denim card stock. Die cut all of the butterflies you are wanting to use.
Arrange these butterflies how you would like.
Before the butterflies are attached to the card stock. Build your card up.
Place the piece of Dapper Denim onto the card base using tear and tape and then follow with the card front piece of card stack. Use dimensional's for the card front piece.
As you can see I placed the largest of the butterflies in the bottom right hand corner. All of the other butterflies were placed in a curve up towards the top left corner.
All butterflies were attached to the card front using a fine tip glue pen.
I then placed a mixture of diamante gem stones and the brand new glitter enamel dots in no particular order, in between the butterflies.
I kept the gems in roughly the same curve as what the butterflies were following.
The sentiment is from a new stamp set; Happy Birthday Gorgeous. (Available June 1st)
This was stamped in Island Indigo ink on to a piece of Whisper White card stock.
It was then backed on to a piece of Dapper Denim card stock and attached to the card front using dimensional's.
Voila!, and that was how I went from not knowing what I wanted to do....to the card you see today :)
As always, all products used will be listed below, along with their links to where you can purchase them.
Please Please Please remember. If there is anything that you know or think is retiring and it has been on your wish list. Today is the last day you are going to be able to order it. I wouldn't want any of my readers to be disappointed. So I wanted to remind you :)
I hope you all have a lovely rest of your day and I will see you all again tomorrow.
Take care & Always sparkle!
