✤Pootle's Birthday Club Hop!✤
How are we all this Sunday morning?? Hope you are all having a fab weekend!
Today's blog post is a special one. Last month I was able to be involved in the Pootle's Birthday Blog Hop as it is my Birthday in March. This month I have been extra lucky as I am able to have another go!! Woohoooo!!!!
I wanted to try something different, a card that I haven't made before and I have always liked the way Shaker Cards look. Never ever tried to do one nor did I have any clue how to make one. But your only as creative as you allow yourself to be right??? So why not push the boat out and give it a whirl! Whats the worst that could happen :)
I am glad I did and so pleased with how it came out. Is it perfect?....no, would I change how I did anything???....probably, but hey. You don't get any where in life without trying it right!!
I hope you like what I came up with and I will definitely be making more shaker cards in the future. This was really fun to make xx
Card stock needed : -
Pool Party card stock (2 pieces needed)
Piece 1) 12 x 6 inches (30 1/2 x 15 cms) This piece is your card base.
Score at 6 inches (15 cms)
Piece 2) 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches (14 x 14 cms)
Island Indigo card stock - 5 1/2 x 5 1/2inches (14 x 14 cms)
Whisper White card stock - 5 x 5 (12 1/2 x 12 1/2 cms)
Make your own design paper for this card. Using the stamp set Every Occasion and ink pads in the colours Soft Sky and Marina Mist.
First, using the Soft Sky ink pad, the present stamp and the piece of Whisper White card stock. Stamp all over, making sure the present is pointing in all directions. Don't worry if you over lap anywhere. It just adds more character.
Once you have done this, use the same stamp but with the Marina Mist ink pad and stamp a few all over the piece of card.
Using tear and tape, attach your custom paper onto the piece of Island Indigo.
Using the largest circle of the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. Position the circle towards the top of your card in the centre and pass through your Big Shot.
Across the back of cutout circle, attach a piece of Window Sheet. I used tear and tape to do this.
Then use a foam strip to attach the backing piece of card stock so what every you fill your shaker card with. It won't fall out.
If you don't have any foam adhesive strips, you can use the edge pieces of your sheet of dimensionals. I found this worked really well.
Fill the Window Sheet space with sequins. I used the Metallics Sequins Assortment from Stampin' Up.
After you have put as many sequins as you wanted. Peel the back from your foam adhesive and attach the piece Pool Party card stock that measured 5 1/2 inches square. (14 cms)
Use tear and tape to attach the card front to the base.
Ink the edges of the card base with the Marina Mist ink pad and daubers.
Using a sentiment from the stamp set Endless Birthday Wishes. Make up the custom sentiment of your choice.
Stamp this sentiment in Marina Mist ink on a piece of Whisper White card stock.
Back onto a piece of Island Indigo.
Voila! You are done.
If you have any hints or tips for my future makes of shaker cards. Please leave a comment down believe. I take any advice with a smile as I am always trying to learn something new :)
I hope you enjoy today's tutorial. I will be right back here tomorrow.
Take care and Always sparkle.
